Abrasive Industrial Supplies, or AIS as we like to call ourselves, is an abrasive belt converter in the United States.

AIS is a division of Goodson Mfg. Company which has been buying and selling abrasive belts to automotive (and other) machine shops since 1945. In 2017, then company owner, Scott Biesanz, had an “aha” moment when he wondered, “Why can’t we manufacture our own belts?” So, being a go-getter, he went out and bought a small abrasive belt conversion company whose owner was looking to retire, and moved it to its current location in Winona, Minnesota.

Selection of Belt Raw Stock  Abrasive belt making machine still shot

In the years since the acquisition, we’ve put our own stamp on the company, adding abrasive grains and grits to our everyday stock. In 2020 we became 100% employee-owned and added a belt making machine.

Not to be name droppers, but a few well-known companies we have provided belts for include Bethany Housewares, Kyocera, and Tesla. Not bad company to be in.

Our biggest claim to fame is that all belts are made to order. If you need a specific size that isn’t commonly stocked at other abrasive companies, you can get it. We, of course, also make the common sizes available for most popular machines.
